Say what? I know! Oskar’s taking a long nap. Let’s do this… p.s. I miss you

Sight: If you are looking for a new show, I’ve really enjoyed Red Oaks and You’re the Worst. And Togetherness is so so good.

Smell: Can not wait to try Le Labo’s new scent.

Sound: Oskar tells me multiple times a day that he is a classic man. He’s obsessed.

Taste: My love of cookbooks is no secret, Nick added this one to my collection and I love it. The mall chicken is hilariously good.

Touch: Really into mock neck crop tops and these jeans.

Happy Spring! It’s not quite warm here yet, but close enough to spend so me much needed time outside. Watch out playgrounds, here we come!

Sight: Sunglass season has arrived! (although you should probably use sunglasses year round)

Smell: Really interested in trying some of these cleaning products. The ingredients are straightforward and conveniently explained on their site. (via The Littlest)

Sound: We got these headphones for Oskar to use on our recent flight, they are cute and comfy. There is volume control on the cord, but I found that if you set the volume on your device assuming that the headphones are up all the way, when they mess with it they can only turn it down, not up and blast their ears out.

Taste: Going to attempt the 4 hour baguette this weekend. I’m almost afraid for it to work out well…

Touch: Finally jumping on the leather legging train. I’ve made a few failed attempts, maybe it will stick this time.

I can’t take it anymore! I need Spring here immediately. This cold is insane. We’re all getting major cabin fever and I’m running out of activities to do with a toddler. If it was just a little cold I would layer up and head outside, but -20 wind chills. Come on. I finally caved and went to the playgroup at the library, and like clockwork Oskar got sick. If you are in this brutal weather, buy some flowers, crank your heat up, paint your toenails and listen to some summer jams. If you live in beautiful weather, please email me rentals and job listings.

Sight: Give me all the baskets.

Smell: Tips on how to shop a flower market… if you are lucky enough to have one nearby.

Sound: Our first weekend away from Oskar is planned (yay! wah!) – a trip to Chicago to see Father John Misty. The last album, Fear Fun, is still played quite often around here, and very nostalgic since I listened to it during the best part of my labor. I haven’t listened to the new one, I Love You Honeybear, as much yet. I’m sure it will be on repeat soon enough.

Taste: This ginger-mint pear smoothie is so good. Seeing how easy it was to whip this up and how much Oskar likes something packed full of spinach I might have to look into stepping up my smoothie game.

Touch: The perfect slip dress. You could wear year round, every day. Under an oversized sweater, with a light jacket, over a t-shirt.

Happy Friday! This weekend is project exercise. I am going to look into classes, memberships, apps, videos… all of it, in search for a winner. As a former ballerina (meaning I took some classes for a minute 2 decades ago), I am drawn to dance based things – so maybe a barre class or Ballet Beautiful. Yoga was amazing during my pregnancy and would probably be helpful with repairing my separated abdomen (for real). The YMCA offers free childcare with a family membership, BONUS. And pilates has always seemed like something that I might enjoy. But it is time to get these lazy winter bones moving.

Sight: Are you guys watching The Bachelor? We haven’t missed a season… ever. But the dude this round is pretty boring.

Smell: Two perfume samples (this and this) arrived the other day and I’ve been rotating them, along with some samples from Lurk. Sometimes a little dab of a lovely scent can totally change the way you feel about yourself.

Sound: This is terribly exciting. February 13th, two girlfriends and I will be seeing SWV, Bel Biv Devoe, and Tony! Toni! Toné! in concert. Yes, I am serious!!! Also, if you are ready to get your weekend started, you better follow those links. You’re welcome.

Taste: Can not wait to make this chowder. Yum!

Touch: We are in desperate need of sheets, only owning one crappy set is no bueno. I love these and they are on sale, but I feel like I’m always disappointed by sheets and would rather hunt out the best, crispiest, cool, long lasting kind.

It’s Friday! Huzzah! This weekend we have a lot of great plans. Saturday we are meeting up with some friends from Traverse City at a potluck picnic in town. Maybe I’ll try a recipe from my new cookbook, Feeding the Whole Family, so many great recipes and good modifications for tiny eaters. Then that evening heading over to our favorite spot, Bill’s Beer Garden with some other friends (early so we can get space with our stroller brigade). And Sunday I’m super excited for the Pop Up Flea in Detroit. And of course a (responsibly) boozy brunch beforehand. Hope you have a great weekend planned for yourself!

Sight: This home calls for it’s own post, but I just couldn’t wait, it’s too good.

Smell: Hot sweaty weather is here, I just ordered this fancy deodorant to take a break from Tom’s for a while.

Sound: I like this single from First Aid Kit. The full album comes out in just a few days.

Taste: If you follow me on instagram, you’ll know that iced coffee season is my favorite season. While looking for the best way to make some cold brew I came across these awesome coffee guides from Blue Bottle Coffee.

Touch: Every year I lust over a crisp white summer dress, but never end up buying. This one will be hard to pass up.

My little buddy is sick for the first time, and yes, is it the saddest thing in the world. Poor babe has been running a fever and even had some pretty epic projectile vomit moments. So we’ll be laying low and getting in lots of snuggles this weekend. Hope your weekend is healthier and happy!

Sight: Black, white, & bronze errrthing. I’ll take it. Especially that bathroom.

Smell: Definitely need to try these Palo Santo sticks Joanna talked about.

Sound: Somehow the living room rearrangement and new media center turned into an obsession with getting on of these bad boys. Seriously, I hear about how great it will be at least once a day. What is it with guys and audio?

Taste: Last night I was thinking about how much I like eggs and thought of a nice name for myself. Apparently it is already taken for this restaurant.

Touch: Love this swimsuit! Perfect for being active at the beach or swim lessons with the little one.

What a week! Lately I’ve felt very scattered, lots of starting and not finishing. Blog posts, projects, cleaning… everything ends up half done. And then at the end of the week I feel like I’ve done a ton but accomplished nothing. It’s the worst. This weekend I’m hoping to catch up. How do you stay organized?

Sight: I don’t know if I will ever be able to get this image of a mother and her children out of my head.

Smell: Hand-poured candles made withUS harvested ingredients and when they’re done you’re left with a beautiful tumbler.

Sound: Chime bridge in Denmark by Mark Nixon. AMAZING.

Taste: Ann Arbor got a new restaurant and I’m super excited to try it out. I’ve heard good things about the Chicago location.

Touch: Got some new jeans! Madewell seriously fits better than any other jean I’ve worn. No back gap and the skinny isn’t way too skinny.

image: Our little morning visit with The Billings was featured on Grey Likes Baby. So cool!

It’s finally Spring in Michigan. FINALLY! And it’s Friday. Seriously watch out, I am in a frighteningly good mood. Every Saturday morning the little man and I let the big man sleep in and we go thrifting. I really enjoy this time with him and he is such a good shopper. Then we come home, eat bagels, and plan the rest of our day. Do you have any weekend routines?

Sight: I just order this set of prints for Oskar’s room.

Smell: Does anything smell better than a nice french roast?

Sound: Picked this album up on vinyl last week. It is so good.

Taste: This is my favorite snack ever. I’m not kidding. Go buy a bunch of bags. Right now. After you eat the whole bag, look at the ingredients and you won’t feel bad.

Touch: Hello perfect striped top.

image: Harding Meyer – creates amazing large-scale oil portraits, I would love to see in person… like in my living room.

This weekend I’m hoping to make an Ikea run (eeeek, Ikea on a weekend!) and pick up a couple cabinets to finish up the kitchen reno. Hurray! Plus start/finish some other projects around the house and sneak in some relaxing too. Everyone had a bit of a cold this week which resulted in lots of nose blowing and  little sleep. Looking forward to warmer days with the help of these beautiful beach paintings. Yes, can you believe that’s a painting?! I love Philip Barlow’s dreamy out of focus feel.

Sight: I need this light. Thanks.

Smell: Sending flowers can be complicated and expensive. I love how this company in SF simplified it and offers beautiful options.

Sound: Kids saying bad words is so funny.

Taste: Speaking of Ikea. I randomly picked up this thing in one of my last trips and it is my favorite! Fancies up your coffee or tea in seconds.

Touch: This sofa is 500 times over my price range, but it looks so cozy and chic. Plus it has the same name as my son. Must be a sign! 😉

We have a snot nosed, watery eyed, teething, cranky ass baby over here this week. But man is he cute. This weekend will be basketball, all day every day. Do you participate in the March Madness? I make a bracket so I have a reason to watch the games and pick a side, since they’ll be on anyway. Have a great weekend! Go sports!

Sight: Jemima Kirke (Jessa on Girls) is a painter first, actress second.

Smell: Nick’s been using this shampoo. I love the minty smell.

Sound: Warmer weather means I can start listening to this on repeat… as I do every year.

Taste: On the hunt for some yummy meatless recipes, this Cauliflower Marsala looks amazing.

Touch: I would live in this linen jumper when the weather turns warm.
