Lisbon, Portugal. A place that was not on the top of our travel wish list and if not for a cheap flight and a random pick out of a hat we may have missed out on visiting what is now one of my favorite cities. We stayed in an apartment right between the two main areas we figured we would spend the most time, Biarro Alto (nightlife) & Chiado (shopping).

Great pictures! It’s lovely when something like that happens, right? That happened to me with Hamburg!

Hi Claire, did you like the apartment you stayed in? Would you mind sharing how you found it? I’m going to Lisbon next weekend with my husband, so am anxiously awaiting more details on your trip. 🙂

Thanks Claire! I am a huge fan of Airbnb and will be sure to look there for accommodations in Lisbon.
If I hadn’t known it was Lisbon I might have guessed it was somewhere closer to where I am now – Nuoro, Sardinia. The architectural style, that shabby state of the houses that just makes it somehow look charming and picturesque, the narrow streets, the details that to a non-local look like vintage touches… feels like home!

Was excited to see this post–my husband and I just settled on Portugal for our next European trip. I’ve searched a few rental websites, but was leery of what I might find when I got there… Would love a link to the apt. you stayed in!
