Winter Change

short curly haircut

If you follow me on instagram, you’ve probably seen, but after talking about short hair for so long. I finally cut it. We did the first chop in August and then went even shorter last week. It’s funny how addicting getting your haircut is when you previously only cut it once a year… maybe. I’ve had my hair short before, but not for over 10 yrs. After wearing it long and wavy with heavy blunt bangs for the past decade, I was getting real bored. Not to mention I couldn’t hear The New Girl reference or how “fringe” was in one more time or I would lose my mind. How often do you change up your hair?

Hi! I follow you on Instagram and love your blog. When you first cut your hair, it looked much curlier than it does here. What is the texture like? I am thinking about cutting my long curly hair short but wondering if it will shrink up too much and what kind of products I will need! Any tips would be great! My hair is the texture of the side view picture from the first hair cut!
    Thanks!

Hi Kelly! Thanks for the sweet comment. My hair’s texture is fine, but there is a LOT of it and it’s pretty curly depending on the day and drying method. In this picture we blew dry it while pulling it down so that it didn’t spring up as much and used Redken Curvaceous. I used Paul Mitchell sculpting foam for a long time, but recently I’ve been using Bumble & Bumble Styling Creme. Now I’m thinking about trying Davines, I’ve heard good things… good luck with the haircut if you go for it!

I LOVE your chop! I actually have an appointment tomorrow to chop mine… goes down to my shoulder blades, have just grown out bangs, done with the long. It’s the time for change! You look fabulous. :)

    Bravery!

It looks fantastic. I also have not made any drastic changes to my hair in over 10 years. I think I was scarred from a terrible short cut I got before that. For now, I like it long, but I always get the itch when I see a fabulous short or medium style on someone else!

You look just great!!! very very great! Well, I will try today something new …I am going blonde… and no one knows it …. so scary to do it, but so excited as it is something what I have never done before …

I just got bangs similar to your last hairstyle, and I told myself that a short sassy bob would be next style. And then lo and behold, you have short and sassy- haha! Looks great on you.

Ha. That’s awesome Caitlyn. Enjoy the bangs, I’m sure my will return someday. But short & sassy is way too fun right now. I think the key is to be honest about the texture of your hair when picking out a short hairstyle and then just go for it.

I love your new hair cut. People wait till summer to go and have a dramatic chop, but why not winter?
I did the lob my hair of recently and it was one of the best things I have ever done. At least you have curls i have to curl mine daily. Cheers good looking.

THanks Kit! Going shorter in the winter is easier for us curly haired gals because we don’t have to battle the humidity.
